"that the most successful Web sites use a holistic approach." - cant agree with you more on this.
Businesses totally forget their goal of building their online properties and start going behind aggressive SEO forgetting usability.... part of the reason for this is coz they do not take a holistic approach on their web design and SEO during their planning stage... I would say this is part of the website designers job to enlighten customers.....
nice flow and clearly state the steps in order.... you can add fine-tune after measure results.... i believe thats the logical step after measuring and the putpose of it as well....

Thank you for the article. There’s a lot of information packed in it. The key takeaway, regardless of how your company chooses to measure engagement, is that you have a success metric in mind before you begin. Without some sort of benchmark, it’s impossible to determine your ROI.

yes, flash website is talk about site and very easy to marketing but it can't help in Search Engine.
